5 fabulous vegan leather designers
Gone are the days of “leather”. The uncomfortable, obviously synthetic material has been replaced by deliberately manufactured, vegan luxury material that feels, lasts and looks like leather – without the cruelty. Countless designers use this sustainable and compassionate material, and these five brands are just a few of our favorites for leather clothing and accessories.
1. Matt and Nat
When we started getting compliments from strangers on our beautiful leather handbag, we knew that wearing a vegan Matt and Nat bag was both a fashion statement and an opportunity to educate others about the benefits of vegan leather. The designer collection has expanded from women’s purses to shoes and accessories for both sexes. Adorn yourself and your loved ones with a leather belt from Matt and Nat, a wallet, a briefcase, a jacket and even a dog collar with a matching leather leash.
One of the wonderful concepts behind vegan leather is that it appears to be made from virtually any plant material. We saw pineapples, mushrooms and apple leather, but the duo at Desserto make this durable material from cacti. As a relatively new company, the brand only sells directly to designers, but we are looking for clothing made by Desserto in the near future.
3. Pineapple anam / piñatex
When the luxury brand Hugo Boss relies on a material, you know that the quality is there. Piñatex is a vegan leather material made from pineapple. Like Desserto, the company sells (Ananas Anam) directly to designers. The material was transformed into shoes, accessories, furniture and clothing. For a full list of international brands using Piñatex, please visit the company Designer page.
4th Will’s vegan shop
Until a few years ago it was a real challenge to find vegan leather shoes of a certain quality. Wills Vegan Shoes broke the barrier with its durable, sleek line of men’s shoes and work boots made from vegan leather. The company now offers an impressive range of everyday shoes, accessories and sport-specific equipment (hiking shoes, trainers, active sandals, etc.) for all genders.
Vegan celebrity Evanna Lynch turned heads when she posted a photo of herself rocking a pair of stunning royal blue Veerah heels. The company uses apple leather to create its gorgeous line of stunning women’s shoes. From simple pumps to stilettos with tassel fringes: With a pair of vegan leather shoes from Veerah, everyone feels like Cinderella.
