A fully vegan old school Italian deli that just opened in NYC


New vegan delicatessen shop today Galiotus It opened in New York City and serves plant-based versions of Italian delicacies classics. Created by the team behind the popular vegan restaurant Jajaja Plantas MexicanaThe deli will specialize in a variety of sandwiches, including The Meatball Parm, which is meat-based, The Aggplant with mozzarella filling, and The Portobello with non-dairy feta cheese. The Galioto also offers a selection of pasta dishes and side dishes such as marinated artichokes, grilled eggplants and giardiniera. For the morning crowd there is also a selection of vegan pastries from Brooklyn’s L’imprimerie French bakery and coffee from local shop Nueva York. In addition to a menu, the deli sells a variety of Italian stock items made by local companies in New York.

Vegan NYC Traditions
The idea for Galioto’s – on Mulberry Street in the historic Little Italy neighborhood – was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic and is meant to evoke the feel of classic Italian deli from NYC’s past. “This whole concept came together because of the pandemic. It’s Grab and Go based and pretty much on track for what we wanted, ”said co-owner Nima Garos eater. “This is what Mulberry Street looked like in the 1920s. It was all a big marketplace. “
