Carls Jr. goes 100 percent meat-free on Earth Day
Fast food chain Carl’s Jr. is transforming one of its locations in Los Angeles, California into a completely meat-free restaurant on April 22nd (Earth Day). From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (or while supplies last), Carl’s Jr. is located at 424 W. Los Feliz Rd. In Glendale, CA, free items made with Beyond Meat are being given away (maximum of four per customer ). VegNews asked for more details about the items on offer and whether they can be ordered entirely plant-based.
“We’re excited to bring our fans a fun and delicious way to celebrate Earth Day with a full, plant-based meat experience at Carl’s Jr. this year,” said Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing at parent company Carl’s Jr. , Said CKE restaurants. “Since almost a third of consumers identify as flexible, we are continuing to develop new ways for our guests to enjoy our legendary burger with charcoal with our Beyond Meat partnership.”
For customers unable to visit the Los Angeles location, Carl’s Jr. is offering any Beyond Burger meatless option for $ 5 off each (with coupon) on Earth Day at participating locations across the country. “As a leader in plant-based innovation, we are excited to work with Carl’s Jr. to bring this unique pop-up experience to life,” said Beth Moskowitz, chief creative officer, Beyond Meat. “This Earth Day initiative improves access to a variety of delicious, nutritious, and sustainable offerings that Carls Jr. fans will love.”
Beyond Meat at Carl’s Jr.
In 2019, Carl’s Jr. partnered with Beyond Meat to bring the Beyond Famous Star to market in 1,000+ locations across the United States. The burger consists of a vegan Beyond burger patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion slices, dill pickles, special sauce and mayonnaise and is served on a sesame bun – vegan ordered by omitting cheese and mayonnaise. Later that year, the chain expanded the meatless burger to its Canadian locations as well. CKE Restaurant’s Hardee’s brand also added Beyond Meat products to their menu in 2019, including The Beyond Thickburger and Beyond Sausages on a Biscuit.
To date, Carl’s Jr. has sold nearly 12 million Beyond Famous Star meatless burgers.
