Crossroads Launches Taco Popup To Preview Kite Hill’s New Vegan Queso
Today vegan restaurant based in Los Angeles Crossing kitchen starts the taco popup Crossroads Tacos. The new concept offers a selection of vegan street tacos, nachos and burritos with vegan brands Kite HillThe new vegan queso that will be launched in the Whole Foods Markets in March. Kite Hill was co-founded by the owner of Crossroads Kitchen and celebrated together with the vegan chef Tal Ronnen Impossible foods Founder Pat Brown and Chef Monte Casino. The queso has been in development for more than a year and is one of Ronnen’s most popular products.
On the menu
The pop-up menu features dishes like the five-layer burrito (spicy Impossible beef, Kite Hill queso, chilled beans, Kite Hill sour cream and cheese) with fries and salsa. Crunchy tacos (impossible beef, shredded lettuce, tomato, cheese, and Kite Hill sour cream) with rice and beans; and loaded nachos (corn tortilla chips, impossible beef, pinto beans, kite hill queso, pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, kite hill sour cream, green onions, and olives).
Three concepts in one
With Crossroads Tacos, the upscale restaurant now operates three different concepts. Earlier this month, Crossroads Kitchen launched the plant-based pizza concept Crossroads Pizza, which offers a variety of starters, pizzas and desserts while also offering take-away options from the regular menu.
“The pizza pop-up was a huge hit and people really love the pizzas. We hope this taco pop-up is received with the same enthusiasm,” Ronnen told VegNews. “Being a gourmet restaurant during a pandemic, many of us do [Crossroads Kitchen] Dishes don’t travel well. Unfortunately, when you look at all of the restaurants that do well, they’re fast food – most independent fine dining restaurants are temporarily or permanently closed. So offering comfort food or fast food has changed the game for us. It also got us to create things we never thought possible, like our new homemade hot peppers. “
