Gavin Rossdale says vegan Bolognese is the future
The musician Gavin Rossdale – the singer of the British rock band Bush from the 90s – is convinced that vegan food, especially meatless Bolognese, is the future. Rossdale was invited to share a cooking video with PEOPLE for the segment “What I really cook for dinner” and decided to prepare a vegan meal. “I’m going to make a vegan Bolognese. I grew up with Bolognese and just thought I wanted to do something more mindful here,” said the 55-year-old musician. “Making vegan Bolognese is the future.”
For the recipe, Rossdale made his own egg-free pasta batter and recreated the Bolognese sauce from scratch, boldly flavoring it with bay leaves and rosemary. “When you’re not using meat, I’m just thinking about what I can do to really make sure I highlight every single taste,” Rossdale said before pulling out Miyoko’s milk butter to add to the dish. “This is the most incredible vegan [product] made by this lovely lady. Butter is a mood booster. “Rossdale also added plant-based beef crust to the sauce and rounded off the dish with grated vegan parmesan. “No animals were injured in the construction of this court,” said Rossdale.
Not only did Rossdale share the vegan Bolognese recipe, but they also showed off their fridge, which is mostly filled with vegan items like Foragers yogurt, oatmeal milk, seitan and lots of fruits and vegetables.
