Launch of the vegan oat milk latte at Drive-Thru Coffee Chain Dutch Bros.
This week, Dutch Bros – the country’s largest private drive-thru coffee chain – added oat milk to more than 400 locations across the country. The new oat milk can be ordered in any drink (for a fee of $ 0.50). The new vegan milk is also part of the chain’s new The Oat Kicker Latte, a permanent menu item that will be advertised from now until February.
“Customers had asked for oat milk and we wanted to make sure we were serving that group,” Kristin Sha, director of product management at Dutch Bros, told VegNews. “Oat milk is the most widely accepted and most sustainable milk alternative. Plus, it’s just delicious – sweet, creamy, and not just for non-dairy drinkers, but for everyone. “In addition to the new oat milk, the chain also offers coconut and almond milk.
Oat milk gains steam
Oat milk finds its way into the menus of large chains across the country. In August 2020, Planet Oat’s Dunkin added oat milk to the menu of its 9,000+ locations across the country. The chain is now serving the vegan milk as part of a new Iced Oatmilk Latte, as well as a variety of hot and cold beverages, and as a substitute for any milk option (additional fees may apply). Similarly, following a successful limited oat milk launch in January 2020 at around 1,300 locations in the Midwest, Starbucks will be rolling out oat milk nationwide at all locations this spring.
