Reese just launched a vegan makeup collection

A new line of products from Reese, inspired by the peanut butter mug, hit stores this month but is unfortunately not edible. Reese’s parent company, The Hershey Company, partnered with beauty brand HipDot on a one-of-a-kind makeup collection that includes quirky Reese peanut butter mugs. The HipDot x Reese collection consists of two six-eyeshadow palettes ($ 16 each) in milk chocolate and white chocolate. two chocolate and peanut butter-scented lip balms ($ 14 each); and a double-ended brush set ($ 16) made from synthetic animal-free fibers. The entire collection ($ 74) can also be purchased in a limited-edition candy-inspired pouch. Reese’s vegan makeup collection is available through the HipDot and Hershey websites, as well as through the physical stores of beauty retailer Ulta.

The HipDot x Reese collection is the latest vegan makeup collection that draws inspiration from popular foods. In March, the Chipotle fast food chain worked with e.l.f. Cosmetics from a vegan make-up collection with items inspired by the plant-based ingredients on the Chipotle menu, including eye shadow in the colors guacamole, salsa and sofritas (vegan tofu meat) as well as avocado-shaped beauty sponges.

Are Reese Vegan?

While the HipDot x Reese makeup collection is free from animal products, when it comes to candy, Reese’s peanut butter cups are not vegan as they contain dairy ingredients. There are several vegan Reese mimickers out there, however, such as peanut butter cups from Unreal Foods, Cleo, and No Whey Foods. Startup Trupo Treats is also working on vegan versions of legendary sweets like Twix, Crunch and KitKat.

In the UK, KitKat is owned by Nestlé and is launching a vegan version of its iconic sweets this year. In the US, KitKat and Reese are owned by The Hershey’s Company, which made no similar announcement. However, The Hershey’s Company committed to a long-term strategy in February to expand the Better For You (BFY) category, which includes herbal products, by innovating towards the BYF category of existing products, research and development of new products , License agreements to co-develop products and acquire brands that provide BYF options.
