The vegan TikTok influencer Tabitha Brown wins the NAACP Image Award

At the weekend, the vegan TikTok influencer Tabitha Brown received the NAACP Image Award for outstanding social media personality. Brown knocked out comedians Kevin Fredericks (known as “KevOnStage”) and Karlton “NotKarltonBanks” Humes, actor Desi Banks Jr., and finance educator Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche to win the award in that category. Brown and her family virtually attended the 52nd annual awards show hosted by Black Entertainment Television (BET) and held a watch party to celebrate their victory.

“It’s a great honor … to be recognized for being just myself,” said the North Carolina native in her emotional acceptance speech. “I’ve dreamed of performing and making people laugh and feel something all my life.” Brown thanked her family and fans for supporting their dreams, adding, “When your people are celebrating you and seeing you and lifting you up, it’s better than anything else in the world.” Brown ended her speech with her famous catchphrase, “Let’s all get on with our business, baby. Have the best night, honey, and tomorrow have a nice day. But even if we can’t have a good one, don’t dare to mess up someone else’s. ”

Following the announcement of its win, the NAACP Image Awards described Brown’s work and influence on his website. “Her delicious, creative, yet simple recipes, fried with compassionate messages and sprinkled with a dash of humor, draw a huge following that finds solace in the aunt that she never had. Although the term “vegan” often polarizes audiences, Brown is reinventing the idea of veganism and showing that it can be accessible, inclusive and accommodating to everyone, ”according to the NAACP Image Awards specified. “Brown developed a role for herself, with her own script, her own direction, and her own audience. As an unconventional way to get famous, Brown paved a way to realize her dream of standing in front of a camera without sacrificing – and actually hugging – who she is and what unique, wholesome qualities make her Tabitha Brown . “

The unstoppable Tabitha Brown

Brown switched to a plant-based diet in 2017 after a long battle with chronic pain. She gained notoriety shortly afterwards after sharing a video of herself eating a TTLA (a vegan BLT) from Whole Foods. Brown has since gained more than 10 million social media followers, including on TikTok, where a video of her vegan carrot bacon recipe went viral shortly after she opened her account.

In April 2020, Brown signed with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) – one of Hollywood’s top talent agencies – and has since grown to fame outside of social media. He has appeared as a guest on shows such as Steve Harvey’s web series Steve on guard and Watch Red Table Talk on Facebook, hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith and family. Brown currently doesn’t just have her own show called All love on the Ellen Network, but the vegan actress joins the cast on the Showtime series The chi when it returns for its fourth season in May. Brown will also publish her first vegan cookbook, Feed the soul (because it’s my business)on September 28th.
