“It’s a great honor … to be recognized for being just myself,” said the North Carolina native in her emotional acceptance speech. “I’ve dreamed of performing and making people laugh and feel something all my life.” Brown thanked her family and fans for supporting their dreams, adding, “When your people are celebrating you and seeing you and lifting you up, it’s better than anything else in the world.” Brown ended her speech with her famous catchphrase, “Let’s all get on with our business, baby. Have the best night, honey, and tomorrow have a nice day. But even if we can’t have a good one, don’t dare to mess up someone else’s. ”
Following the announcement of its win, the NAACP Image Awards described Brown’s work and influence on his website. “Her delicious, creative, yet simple recipes, fried with compassionate messages and sprinkled with a dash of humor, draw a huge following that finds solace in the aunt that she never had. Although the term “vegan” often polarizes audiences, Brown is reinventing the idea of veganism and showing that it can be accessible, inclusive and accommodating to everyone, ”according to the NAACP Image Awards specified. “Brown developed a role for herself, with her own script, her own direction, and her own audience. As an unconventional way to get famous, Brown paved a way to realize her dream of standing in front of a camera without sacrificing – and actually hugging – who she is and what unique, wholesome qualities make her Tabitha Brown . “
