Twilight star Nikki Reed just launched vegan shoes and Oscar nominees will be the first to wear them

On May 6th, actress Nikki Reed will launch a vegan sneaker line in collaboration with the sustainable shoe brand LOCI. The Reed x LOCI collection features a simple low-cut sneaker ($ 160) with the LOCI logo, available in white, beige, black, blue, or yellow. The white sneakers are also available in different accent colors, e.g. B. Navy and red, orange and blue, and black and yellow. Handmade in Portugal, the shoes are made from durable and sustainable materials such as insoles made from cork and recycled foam, a bamboo lining and an outer material made from recycled ocean plastic. The shoes are also treated to be waterproof yet breathable.

“LOCI is so much more than a shoe. This is a chance to prove that we can create products that are as chic as the planet is aware, ”said Reed. “Luxury and sustainability can live together, you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.”

Vegan shoes for the Oscars

The vegan sneakers will be included in this year’s nominee gift bags “Everyone Wins”, which will be delivered to Oscar nominees in the categories “Best Actor + Actress”, “Best Supporting Actor + Actress” and “Best Director”. Nominees to receive the pouch bags include Daniel Kaluuya, Olivia Colman, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Riz Ahmed, Viola Davis, Andra Day, and Carey Mulligan. Curated by LA-based entertainment marketing agency Distinctive Assets, this year’s bags feature companies committed to diversity, inclusion, health and philanthropy. For its part, LOCI’s mission is to help save marine animals by donating part of its profits to the protection of endangered species and protected marine habitats.

Nikki Reed’s vegan fashion collaborations

In 2016, Reed worked with designer Morgan Bogle to create a six-piece luxury handbag capsule collection that is both sustainable and vegan for Bogle’s designer handbag brand Freedom of Animals. The line consisted of three new bag styles in black and white made from 100 percent recycled polyurethane.
