Vegan Taco “Hell” pop-up picks up the bell in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO Vegan Deli & Butcher will be hosting a Taco Bell-inspired vegan pop-up this weekend. The vegan pop-up “Taco Hell” offers a full selection of veganized favorites from the fast food chain, including Nacho Hell Grandes, Cheesy Gordita Crunches, Double Decker Tacos, Fritos Burritos, Cheese Quesadillas and Crunchwrap Supremes. The deli has also partnered with local donut shop Strange Donuts to offer vegan donuts filled with Baja Blast jelly, and local restaurants Frida and Diego to offer margaritas for the event. The pop-up will take place on January 16 and 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Vegan Deli & Butcher.
“What inspired me for this pop-up is my love for junk food and fast food,” Chris Bertke, co-founder of Vegan Deli & Butcher, told VegNews. “And since Taco Bell is like the king of fast food and junk food, I wondered why I shouldn’t pay homage to one of my favorites as a kid. I love the nostalgia. It definitely brings back good memories for me. And if you make it 100 percent vegan, it gets even better. “
Vegan Deli & Butcher opened in St. Louis last year and offers soups, cold deli sandwiches, deli salads to take away, and homemade vegan meats that sell for a pound.
