Wisconsin Cheesemakers just launched vegan cheese in 300 Sprouts stores
Vegan brand this month Vevan Foods launched its cheese line in all 300 Sprouts Farmers Markets stores across the country. The brand is a subsidiary of Wisconsin-based milk brand Shuman Cheese and was developed by artisan cheese makers. The vegan cheese line from Vevan is available in the formats Shred (shredded) and Melts (sliced) in three flavors: classic hot Cheddar Ched, creamy mozz and spicy P’Jack. In addition, the Vevan brand launches Snax, which includes cheese cubes with dried fruits and roasted nuts.
“Consumers want plant-based options that are known: authentic aroma, the appealing texture of milk cheese and a melt like milk cheese,” said Keith Schuman, head of the Vevan business unit. “With Vevan, plant-based consumers can rediscover the familiar textures and flavors that they have previously missed. With Vevan, consumers who are no longer ingesting dairy products can recapture the incredible moments of biting into a slice of pizza with cheese dangling from its sides or enjoying the convenience of having a bowl of creamy mac-n-cheese . “
Vegan from the cheese state
Vevan first launched its vegan cheeses in February 2020. In addition to Sprouts, Vevan cheeses are now available at other retailers including Caputo, Grocery Outlet, Ingles Markets and Stew Leonard. “We created Vevan with the aim of creating the most authentic experience possible. When shoppers say it could be mistaken for a deli cheese behind the glass, they know Vevan is bringing something new and exciting to the category, ”Schuman said.
