You can now order the three-course vegan menu from top chef Alaun Spike Mendelsohn for Christmas
This holiday season, Spike Mendelsohn – from Bravo Top chef Fame – prepared a special vegan festival, which can be picked up at locations of its vegan chain PLNT Burger. The feast consists of three courses: a winter green salad (made with root vegetables, pumpkin seeds and Follow Your Heart goat cheese and dressed in a sherry vinaigrette); a starter made from Wellington truffle mushroom with red wine jus (with side dishes made from carrots with citrus glaze, Brussels sprouts with maple glaze and apples with candied walnuts and potato and kohlrabi gratin); and a chocolate peppermint mousse for dessert. The Holiday Menu is available as a single platter ($ 29.99), a four-serving meal ($ 110), or an eight-serving meal ($ 200).
Everything to take away assignments must be placed by 12pm local time by December 21st for December 24th (between 2pm and 4pm) pickup and can be picked up at PLNT Burger locations in Tysons Corner, VA; Wynnewood, PA; Washington, DC (South Capitol); and Maryland (Columbia and Silver Spring).
Mendelsohn created the PLNT burger concept after Seth Goldman – the former CEO of Beyond Meat – introduced him to the vegan Beyond Burger. In 2019, Mendelsohn opened his first PLNT burger location at the Whole Foods Market in Silver Spring, MD, where, in addition to Beyond Meat-Chili Beyond, he serves a variety of Beyond Burgers with vegan cheese, mushroom bacon, and guacamole from Follow Your Heart’s Sausage-Filled Hot Dogs and vegan chicken sandwiches with crispy oyster mushrooms. Within a year, Mendelsohn expanded the concept to seven locations within the Whole Foods Markets in Washington, DC and Pennsylvania, and recently announced plans to open additional standalone outposts in 2021.

In addition to creating festive vegan dishes and opening new locations for PLNT burgers, Mendelsohn also worked with Goldman on a new retail brand of vegan jerky called Eat the Change Mushroom Jerky, which will be available in five flavors: sea salt + cracked pepper, hickory Smokehouse, Teriyaki Ginger, Maple Mustard and Habanero BBQ – available from retailers across the country in January.
